Gérald Genta was never just a watch designer. He was a true watch artist, and his legacy lives on through the brand that carries his name: Gerald Charles. Now that legacy meets another visionary. The new Gerald Charles x Igor Mitoraj Maestro GC39 Mitoraj brings together two art worlds, watchmaking and sculpture, in a single one-of-a-kind piece. It is a dialogue between two creative minds who both saw form as art, and that is what makes it so special.
Presented by TimeForArt, this pièce unique will be offered at a dedicated live TimeForArt session during The Phillips New York Watch Auction: XV, on Saturday, December 5th, 2026 at 3pm EST.
Two Masters, One Language
Gérald Genta needs little introduction. His designs, including the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus, shaped what we now call the luxury sports watch. Gerald Charles, the brand he founded in 2000, carries his design philosophy forward, and the Maestro is its signature collection.
Igor Mitoraj (1944–2014) was a Polish sculptor known for monumental figures inspired by classical antiquity. His work, often fragmented, bandaged or deliberately incomplete, can be found in public spaces and museums around the world. Like Genta, he worked with strong forms and a clear visual identity that is instantly recognizable.
That shared approach is what makes this pairing compelling. Both men treated form as something to be shaped, not simply decorated.
A True Pièce Unique
The Maestro GC39 Mitoraj is a single piece, not a limited edition. That makes it a rare crossover between fine watchmaking and fine art, and a natural fit for an auction setting where collectors of both worlds meet.

Where to Bid
